Key Takeaways

  • Design with the Rich Content Editor (RCE): Add images, files, record or upload multimedia content, and embed external tools like Echo360, YouTube, Khan Academy, and others.
  • Insert Links to Course Content: Add direct links to other Pages, Assignments, Quizzes, Announcements, Discussions, Modules or other course navigation areas by going to Insert > Link > Course Link.
  • Make sure it's accessible: Canvas has a built-in accessibility checker that will flag things for you to improve accessibility.
  • Use Pages for collaboration. Pages can work like collaborative wiki pages that students can edit, while allowing the instructor to see and curate the edits

Tips

  • Timesaving Tip: Create your own template for your content pages that you can quickly duplicate, then drag and drop into each module for easy editing.
  • Duplicate Template Pages Before Editing: Your Sandbox contains a wide variety of template pages to get you started. Tip: Duplicate the page before editing so that you can retain the original for future reference.
  • Copying Pages to Other Courses: It's easy to design pages in your Sandbox and then copy them to your courses when you are ready.
